The sixteenth in a row the World Cup FINA held in Kazan. Championship was attended by about 2500 athletes from 190 countries.

Kazan first competition was held for veterans in the category «Masters». The largest number of gold medals won by the team of China, the USA and Russia.

6500 participants and head of delegations were housed in the Universiade Village.

Competitions were held in six sports: swimming, open water swimming, diving and high diving, synchronized swimming and water polo. The new discipline of FINA high diving officially included in the program of the World Championship in water sports.
