Musk deer Musk deer are the most common in the taiga of Eastern

Siberia. Despite the predatory long fangs in males, these animals feed exclusively on vegetation. In addition, musk deer has another interesting feature: the glands of males produce a strongly smelling substance - musk. This is the most expensive animal product used in medicine and the perfume industry. For this reason, males of this species are an object of hunting.

Amur tiger The Amur tiger population has survived only in Russia: the range

of this tiger is concentrated in a protected area in the south of the Far East. The threat to the survival of this species is posed by poaching and deforestation, since the main habitat of the Amur tigers are broad-leaved forests.

Snow leopard The snow leopard is a rare, small, endangered species. Despite the

fact that the snow leopard is at the top of the food pyramid and does not experience competition from other predators, its number is constantly decreasing due to the constant pursuit by humans. It inhabits the high mountains of Central and Central Asia.

Fish owl This species settles on the banks of rivers in the Far East

from Magadan to Amur and Primorye, as well as on Sakhalin and the South Kuril Islands. The eagle owl prefers to live in the hollows of old trees with an abundance of aquatic prey nearby, but the old forests and hollow trees are often cut down, which inevitably displaces these birds from their habitats. In addition, poachers catch fish owls, and they often fall into the traps during an attempt to pull the bait out of them.

The development of water tourism in the Far Eastern rivers and, consequently, the increase in anxiety of these birds gradually leads to a decrease in the number of owls and prevents their reproduction. All this has led to the fact that today this species is threatened with extinction.
