ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON

The Scottish novelist, poet, essayist and travel writer, Robert Louis Stevenson was born on November 13, 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Robert Louis Stevenson died at the age of 44 a few hours after suffering a brain hemorrhage on December 3, 1894.

Although, he gave up engineering for law.But he did not like law and never practiced it. He understood, the only thing he wanted to do was writing.
At the age of 17 Stevenson entered Edinburgh University to study engineering, his father's profession.

He is best known for his evergreen works «Treasure Island», «Kidnapped», and «The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde».

In 1876, while traveling in France, Stevenson visited the village of Barbizon, where young artists gathered. There he met Frances Matilda Osborne. Fanny was 10 years older than Lewis. In 1880 she married Lewis. The writer lived with her a short but happy life, made friends with Fanny's children.

Robert Louis Stevenson suffered from severe tuberculosis, which he contracted as a child. Due to illness, the writer traveled a lot in search of a suitable climate for himself.

His works are characterized by fascinating adventurous plots, romance, high morality of the main characters, a deep study of characters, their characters and psychology. In Samoa, in the house where the author spent the last years of his life, a museum named after him is open today.
