Miami was founded in 1896, more precisely, this year it received
city status. Now it is quite possible to say that Miami has two creators - rich American Julia Tuttle, who founded an orange plantation here (at the end of the 19th century, Miami provided citrus to all the states), and industrialist Henry Flagler, who opened the railway communication with Miami.
History
Henry Morrison Flagler is an American financier and entrepreneur, one of the pioneers in the US oil and railway industries.
1830-1913
Julia DeForest Tuttle was an American businesswoman who was largely responsible for, and the original owner of, the land upon which Miami, Florida, was built. For this reason, she is called the "Mother of Miami." She is the only woman to found a major American city.
