   BOXING

The earliest evidence of boxing dates back to Egypt around 3000 BC. The sport

was introduced to the ancient Olympic Games by the Greeks in the late 7th century BC, when soft leather thongs were used to bind boxers' hands and forearms for protection.

  British boxing

The first documented account of a bare-knuckle fight in England appeared

in 1681 in the London Protestant Mercury, and the first English bare-knuckle champion was James Figg in 1719. This is also the time when the word "boxing" first came to be used. This earliest form of modern boxing was very different.

Boxing rules

Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, helmets, throw punches at each

other for a predetermined amount of time in a boxing ring. Amateur boxing is both an Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport and is a common fixture in most international games—it also has its own World Championships.

REFEREE

The referee in boxing is the individual charged with enforcing the rules of that sport during a

match.

Слайд 6

If two judges have one boxer winning the fight and the third judge scores it a draw, the boxer wins by

majority decision. If two judges have one boxer winning the fight and the third judge has the other boxer winning, the first boxer wins by split decision.
