Construction of Tower Bridge
This construction is a sliding bridge with a length of 244 meters with two towers of 65 meters high, which installed on intermediate towers. The central span between towers of 61 meters in length has two lifting wings weighing more than a thousand tons, which can be raised at an angle of 83° for propulsion of ships. The flight is driven by a hydraulic system, originally a water system, with a working pressure of 50 bar. To better corrosion protection of the metal structure, the towers were lined with stone. The architectural style of the structure is defined as Gothic.

Historical facts:
In February 1876, the London government announced an open tender for a new bridge project.
The best project was recognized as the lifting-opening bridge of Sir Horace Jones, the chief architect of the city.
A huge amount of £ 585,000 was allocated for the creation of the grandiose building.
Construction started In 1886 and was completed in 8 years. The grand opening of the new bridge took place on June 30, 1894, by Prince Edward of Wales and his wife Princess Alexandra.
