After graduating from the seventh grade, he graduated with honors from the school with a degree in mold-caster.
In August 1951 Gagarin entered the Saratov industrial College. In Saratov began his passion for aviation: he entered the Saratov flying club. In 1955 Yuri Gagarin graduated with honors from the College and made his first independent flight on the Yak-18. In total, Yuri Gagarin performed 196 flights and flew 42 hours and 23 minutes in the flying club.
