Relevance of the topic
The current stage of economic development, its new laws and priorities, the changing factors of the intensification of social production, the transformation of the paradigms of resource and technological support for economic growth necessitate the improvement of all components of the country's economic potential, including the transit one.

Purpose of the study
In the thesis an important scientific and practical task of developing theoretical, methodological and practical provisions on improving the development strategy of the transit potential of the Karaganda region was solved.

Research objectives
investigation of the nature, specifics and components of the transit potential;
determining the basis for assessing the effectiveness of the use of the transit potential of the Karaganda region and the features of its development management;
analysis of trends in the development of the transport system of Kazakhstan as the basis of its transit potential;
assessment of the characteristics of the implementation and development of the transit potential of the Karaganda region at the present stage;

Research methods
The research methodology is based on the dialectical method of scientific knowledge and general scientific methods of epistemology: theoretical generalization, induction, deduction and reduction, graphic and historical method, system analysis and synthesis, analogy, grouping and classification, modeling and abstraction; analytical methods: statistical and structural analysis, economic and mathematical analysis, comparative analysis.

Scientific novelty
On the basis of systematization of the experience of the Karaganda region, the importance of the geographical dominants of international integration in the field of transport is justified and it is proposed to highlight the regional paradigm of managing transit potential.

Practical meaning
The practical significance of the research results is the development of scientific and practical provisions and recommendations for improving the development strategy of the transit potential of the Karaganda region.
