St. Patrick’s Day all over the world
Irish people all over the
world celebrate St. Patrick’s day and big parades take place in New York, Chicago and Boston in the USA because lots of Irish people live there. Large floats, decorated with harps, shamrocks, Irish flags and anything green, wind their way along the main streets while the crowds on either side cheer them on. In Dublin, the capital city of Ireland, there is a huge firework display in the evening and fun and games for kids.

Why do people wear green?
Green is one of the symbols of
Ireland and this festival takes place in the spring when plants are just beginning to grow. Green is also the color of the shamrock, the special symbol associated with St. Patrick.
So, next 17th March, why not put on some green clothes, pin a shamrock on your lapel and join in the biggest party in the Irish calendar – St. Patrick’s Day!
